Overtime Rules

Steps to set up Overtime Rules

  1. Go to the Settings dropdown and select Modules. 
  2. Go to the Time dropdown and select Overtime Rules.
  3. To create a new overtime rule, select the [New] button and complete the following fields: 
    1. Overtime Rule NameEnter the name of your overtime rule.
      Note: Multiple overtime rules can be applied to employees, jobs, unions, and companies through pay groups.
    2. StatusSelect “Active” or “Inactive” for the overtime rule’s current status in the system.
    3. Overtime 1 is standard overtime while Overtime 2 is double time. Enable the box next to each to enable the ruleset.
    4. Day Starts AfterSelect the daily overtime rule.
      1. “None” – When selected, no overtime rules will apply.
        Note: Select the day first, then “None” to set up a no overtime rule.
      2. Day When selected, enter the hours an employee would need to work in a day before earning overtime in the Hours field.
      3. When40 hours When selected, the daily overtime will not apply until employee time records reach 40 hours for the week.
        Note: If this option is selected and the Hours field contains a number, both options will apply.
    5. Week Starts After – Enable this option to have weekly overtime start after the specified hours in the Hours field.
    6. 7th Consecutive Day Starts After/6th Consecutive Day Starts AfterTo enable overtime after working six or seven consecutive days, enable the correlating checkbox. In the correlating Hours field, enter the number of hours an employee must work on the 6th or 7th day before earning overtime. Enter 0 if they earn overtime for the whole day
    7. Daily Specific Rules – To enable overtime for daily work, enable the correlating checkbox. In the correlating Hours field, enter the number of hours an employee must work before earning overtime. Enter 0 if they earn overtime for the whole day.
  4. Select the [Save] button to create the overtime rule.
